Really nice!

I'm thinking maybe I'll give it a shot for my stardust journal. It's got mainly a BSG theme going to it so why not? Can you give me a hand with that? I know how good you are with code and stuff and I suck at it bigtime. :)

I'm headed offline for the night but I'll be back tomorrow - I saw you have a couple of personal posts that I wanted to catch up with. Just wanted to let you know I haven't missed them. :)

I'm glad you like it. Sure, I can help....

1. Go to Custom Options in Customize Journal.
2. Go to the Custom CSS link.
3. Marks all questions NO. (ie Use Layout Stylesheet, Use layout's stylesheet(s) when including custom external stylesheet, and Use external stylesheets)
4. Paste Coding into "Custome Stylesheet"
5. Save header in you photobucket.
6. Near the bottom of all the coding you will find
"background-image: url(HEADER URL)"
Change Header URL to the link for your header and hit save changes... then check out your journal. If your sidebar is missing blurbs tags or the like go to http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml?group=sidebar to set them up.

I hope this helps you. If not let me know.

Well I loaded in the code (without doing anything to the header first) but it's not working. My old layout is gone but it's just a plain white page at the moment and it's not loading completely.

Help!!

I'll head back to the old layout for the moment until we can get this working. :)

Are all the questions above the coding section Nos. I got the code to work for me. So strange.

I tested it on layout_lounge - my test community. It worked there and all I did was insert the code.

Are you in Flexible Squares? - I'm pretty sure that isn't the problem... gosh... that is weird.

Got it working - thanks for the help. :D

Now I just have to change a few options - the text for the links is white on the white background. Kind of hard to read. :)

It looks great! Check it out.

A friend offered to go in and fix things for me, so it's all good now. :)

Thanks so much for making this layout and sharing it. It's wonderful!

I'm glad you liked it. Also. I did check it out and it is definately different. I think your header image's height is a little high. You might try adjusting that for a seamless look.

It wasn't supposed to be on a white background... well whatever. If you need help... I'm here.

Having some difficulty with changing the colours. It's not exactly intuitive is it?

Any helpful hints?
Jill aka Josireesanwar on November 26th, 2007 10:32 pm (UTC)
I didn't realize you wanted different colors. Changing things can be a pain. I could do it if I knew what you wanted.
stardust_20: Christmas - snowy treestardust_20 on November 26th, 2007 10:56 pm (UTC)
I liked the original, I just found the text to be a bad colour because for some reason I was getting white or light grey on white and it was impossible to read some things. I was hoping to change the colour of that particular text, but it seems my friend changed more than a few things.

I like it the way it is, but if you had something different in mind let me know. I have no problem giving you my password and letting you mess around with it. I didn't realize the header wasn't in the right place either - it all looks fine to me.

If you want to change things (make them more the way they were or fix the header) let me know and I'll email you my password and you can tinker away. :)

(and the only reason I asked others for help was because it was friday afternoon and I knew you wouldn't be online all weekend - otherwise I would have asked you first given that you made it.) :)

That looks great! :D

Cooool! You got so many nice ideas :)

I wish I could get my head around these LJ layout thingies, but my main problem is that I think too much in how it should look, and not so much in how to make it look like that code-wise.. How did you go about learning these things, look and modify more and more things in a layout 'til you your bearings?
Jill aka Jo: Fun: Hanging Aroundsireesanwar on December 3rd, 2007 10:26 pm (UTC)
I'm not great at creating coding on my own... but piecing things together or changed someone else's considerably I can do. That is why I don't say these are mine. They are my own take on them.

Coding is like another language and I happen to understand a lot of it. So I can change things by reading the code and finding where I want to change something. I also know where to look for things simply because I understand the mumbo jumbo of code.

There are quite a few communities/websites that specialize in walking you through how to create coding. That is how I learned.
